It is with great sadness that we share the news with our clients and colleagues that Neil Murray’s wife Jan passed away suddenly on 23rd May.
Jan worked for Armstrong Murray as our trust accountant for many years until her retirement in December 2013. She was a much-valued member of our team. Jan had an eye for detail and could do mathematical equations faster than most of our staff could enter the figures into their calculators. Everything was always balanced down to the last cent, as nothing got past Jan’s eagle eyes.
Jan never failed to enter into the spirit of all of Armstrong Murray events, whether it was a fancy-dress night, games evening, picnic in the park, Christmas party or one of our annual retreats. Jan was always fun to be with and very down to earth. We enjoyed her wicked sense of humour, especially if it was lovingly directed at Neil. She and Neil were very much equals and made a formidable duo.
Everyone at Armstrong Murray has their own special memories of Jan, but we all loved her baking. If there were any old bananas at home, that meant banana muffins for morning tea and she could whip up the most delicious scones in the time it took to heat her oven.
Without a doubt, Jan was our office ‘mum.’ She was a mentor, a confidant, a friend and someone you could always depend upon. She was compassionate, understanding, composed and the epitome of elegance, even with her favourite beverage (a beer) in hand!
The lives of everyone at Armstrong Murray have been made richer by the love and friendship we shared with Jan. She will be sorely missed.
