Protection for property buyers

January 12, 2021

Did you know that property buyers are better protected when purchasing through a real estate agent rather than privately?

It’s illegal for anyone (both real estate agents and private sellers) to hide or give false information about a property they’re selling.

But unlike private sellers, real estate agents are expected to use their professional knowledge and experience to advise buyers about significant potential risks.

For example, if a home is likely to be leaky or contain asbestos based on its age and type of construction, the real estate agent is obliged to warn potential buyers.
